The 90 square kilometers marine park on the north-western tip of Phuket island was established in 1992. Before
then it was known as Had Nai Yang national park from 1981 to 1992. About 76% of park area is the sea water.
Three beaches from north to south; Sai Kaew, Mai Khao and Nai Yang, together have 13 km of sand stretch.
Terrestrial environment
Beach forest are found on the exposed beach fronts, but the diversity of plant species and density is low.
Birds including Magpie robin, Spotted dove, commom myna are found. Approximately 2 square kilometers of beach
forest exists in the park.
Mangrove forest covers about one square kilometer area in the park, where sea water and fresh water mix.
Marine environment
The Marine environment of Sirinath is quite diverse; the coral reefs in the bay are some of the most pristine found
in Phuket province. The reefs are located about 700 to 1000 meters away from the shore. They are located in the
water depth of 4 to 7 meters. Marine species spotted include Plate corals, Soft corals, Sea fans, Tree corals and
Sea anemones.
Accommodations and facilities
The park keeps several bungalows, a restaurant and a visitor center. There are also privately run accommodations
and tour operators there. Since it is located on the very popular tourist island of Phuket, higher class resorts, super
markets, are not far away.
How to get there
The park is located near Nai Yang village in Thalang district, north-western part of Phuket island.
The international airport is about 2 km from the park headquarters. Phuket town is 35 km south of the park.
