It is located in Khao Phra Vihan conservation forest covering 130 square kilometers land. The elevation range between 200 and 500 meters above sea level. The park covers parts of Sri Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani provinces. It was designated as 83rd national park on 20 March 1998.
Natural features
The park sits on the Thai - Cambodia border area with some forestland and scenic spots. The significant spot (now inside Cambodia) is the Khmer temple of Prasat (Castle) Khao Phra Vihan. This Khmer style temple provides archeological education and recreation.
Flora and fauna
It is covered by dipterocarp forest and dry evergreen forest with Pterocarpus macrocarpus, Shorea obtosa, Shorea siamenses and Xylia kerrii being some of the dominant tree species. Wildlife that may exist in the park includes wild pig, barking deer, samba deer, squirrel, gibbon, civet, birds and reptiles.
Tourist attractions
Main attractions are the remains of Khmer temple and the related spots, caves and waterfalls and the border market between Thailand and Cambodia.
To visit Phra Vihan Khmer temple people need to enter Cambodia (Jomprasan district of Phra Vihan province). The border crossing situation change time by time.
Accommodations and facilities
There is a camp ground without equipment.
How to get there
From Srisaket take the route no. 221 to the south for about 87 km to get to the park.
From Ubon Ratchathani take the route no. 2178 to the south to the intersection with route no. 221. Continue on the route no. 221 to reach the park.
