Mae Wa National Park
Location
Mae Wa national park is located in both Lampang and Tak provinces. It cobers 589 square kilometres area.
Topography
Rugged mountains with high steep slopes in the north and east. In the central and south it is a flat-topped mountain covered with pines on the top. There are limestone mountains in the west. Mixed deciduous, evergreen, drydipterocarp, and pine forest are also found in the park. Fertile forest with variety of plants serves home of many animals.
Climate
It is located in tropical monsoon region. A south-westerly monsoon blows during May to September. It brings heavy rain. A north-easterly monsoon blows in the cold season (October to February). It causes a dry and cold period.
Places to visit
Mae Wa waterfall is located at 498 - 499th kilometres of the highway no.1 (Phahonyothin road) and it is 105 kilometres far from Lampang. This 8 tiers fall is surrounded by steep mountains.
Nam Pa Pha Ngam cave is in Mae Prig district. It is a big limestone cave with beautiful stalagmites and stalactites inside.
Doi Khun Hauy Pong, Doi King Kod, and Doi Tha Ji are good view points located between the middle and the south of the park.

How to get there
From Lampang take the highway no.1 (Phahonyothin Road, Lampang-Tak route). Between the km markers 489 and 499, there is a side road directing to the park. Take this road for 10 kilometres to the headquarters.
