Day 1
Arrive Bangkok. Transfer to hotel. Free and overnight hotel.
Day 2
Take a morning flight to Udon Thani, a major city in the north-east.
After checking in hotel there will be a tour of the area including an orchid farm, a weaving village, remains of prehistoric items site.
Evening free to walk the streets in the city.
Day 3
In the morning we will make a visit to see the life in the paddy farm.
By bus to Nong Khai. After checking in hotel visit of one of the famous temples and the Buddha park.
Evening free to explore the border market, etc.

Day 4
Starting in the morning by bus on one of the most scenic road of Thailand along the Mekong river to Loei province.
Take photos at Chiang Khan - a small town with traditional old wooden houses painted dark on the Mekong river bank.
Continue to the intersection of Mekong river and Heung river at Thai-Lao border and the hill-top temple.
We will arrive Phu Rua national park about lunch time. Bungalow stay.
In the afternoon easy nature walk to the top of over 1300 meters peak with the Buddha image overlooking the Heung river and
Sayaboury (Xayabouri) province of Laos.

Day 5
In the mid-morning leave the park by bus. Visit the orange farm or a vine yard before heading to
Uttaradit train station where we will take a train at approximately 1500Hrs to Chiang Mai.
On the way to Uttaradit enjoy the hills with farms and villages.
Arrive Chiang Mai 2000Hrs and transfer to hotel.
Day 6
Free at your leisure or join a sightseeing tour. Overnight in Chiang Mai.
Day 7
Free at your leisure or join a sightseeing tour. Overnight in Chiang Mai.
Day 8
Free at your leisure or join a sightseeing tour. Overnight in Chiang Mai.
Day 9
Come back to Bangkok by flight. End of this sample itinerary.
This program gives you two different scenes: north-east and the north.
Even north-east has different things: Udon Thani and around is flat farm lands,
Nong Khai is border area, and Loei is mountainous.
NOTE To view and learn how the north-eastern farmers work in their paddy field you must travel during
rainy season (June to September for planting and care of fields), and early winter (October, November for harvesting rice).
We can include sightseeing in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, hiking and hilltribe village home stay in Chiang Mai, etc.
If you want to witness "Phi Tha Khone" (Masked Ghosts) festival in Dan Sai district in Loei province (to the south of
Phu Rua national park) you must come in July. We can advise you on the dates of the festival. You will most likely
need one more day in that area.

There are a lot of ways to change the program. For example instead of going up to Chiang Mai you could continue
to Sukhothai, and even to Mae Sot and Umphang to enjoy rafting, Ti Lo Su waterfall, Karen village home stay.
However please note that this trip should not be done in limited time. To enjoy more of north-eastern Thailand
staying more nights in Udon Thani and/or Nong Khai are necessary.
